10 Strategies for Online Ad Placement

Bluebert G. Peabody of Peabody’s Cre8tive Flow pointed me to a long, but very high quality article on ad placement.

The post caught my attention due to some recent blogosphere discussion on placement of Google AdSense ads on blogs. I, for one, made several changes in the location of the Google ads on the Land of Oppoprtunity small business blog and saw an immediate (next day) improvement in click throughs.

The article by Alex Kirtland of Boxes and Arrows provides detailed and full-color illustrations of ten proven concepts for ad placement. When I saw this article, I went “Wow!”. I had to skim the article 2-3 times before I was ready to read it fully.

By the way, Land of Opportunity uses strategy number 9 — take advantage of text-only ads. Per Alex’s advice, I too have had to learn how to balance use of ads with content.

If you are at all interested in making money from ads on either your blog or website, Alex’s article is a definite must read.
